He then told me he would think about it and if they chose to refund me I would see it in my account, but if not then they decided not to.
needless to say they never refunded us or would take any responsibility for their mistake.
Beware of this company I would not recommend them to anyone.
I called J.L. back and explained what had happened, they sat there telling me they had no idea how it could have happened, then checked and re checked the routing number they had on file, which was correct, they told me to check the paper work they gave us when we had filed and when I did the routing number had been left blank. When I explained that I was now having to deal with late fees and a lot of stress due to their mistake and that I wanted a refund for the tax preparation fee, they had me talk to Jake, who then began to tell me it was my fault or the IRS screwed up and that they had no reason to refund me. when I explained that there was no other way for the IRS and State to receive a completely different routing number with our taxes other then who ever had filed them had put in the wrong number, because if we had given them the wrong number to begin with there would be a wrong number on their file system as well.
I would give this accountant 0 stars if I could. Had Jake do our taxes for 3 years. Every single year there was a mistake which caused us to receive our return several weeks sometimes months after we were suppose to. Then this year we had a different accountant do our taxes, come to find out, Jake missed a huge break on our taxes and now we need the last several years amended. We contacted him to take care of this for us as it was his oversight. First it took over a month just to get ahold of him to tell him about the oversight. He agreed to amend the taxes and promised it would only take a couple of days. Now we can't even get in touch with him. We are constantly given excuses about why he can't talk on the phone, promised that he will call back and he never does. We are a month into from when he told us that he would take care of this for us and still have not heard a peep. This is horrid business practice and highly unprofessional. We wouldn't be dealing with this headache to begin with if he would just communicate, but he refuses to do so. Clearly he isn't concerned about taking care of his clients. We gave him ample opportunities, after all, we did go back to him 3 years in a row, sighting that he was a very nice person and we would give him another chance. I would highly stress you going to another accountant before this guy, because if something does go wrong with your accounting needs, it'll be months possibly NEVER before you get any sort of response. BEWARE.
Jake sat with us for 10 minutes, explained he did not know what to do with the social security lump sum and that we should just ignore it, and then sent us on our way after charging us $120. as we were leaving we double checked to make sure the routing number for the Direct deposit was correct. after 2 weeks we called again to make sure the routing number was correct, which it was. then after the 3rd week we called them and they told us that some times direct deposit just does not work and to just wait for the IRS to send us a check in the mail, and that we should not waist our time calling the IRS. We Called the IRS and State anyway only to find out that the routing number the taxes were filed with was completely different then ours, and that the IRS had already sent it to the bank and would have to wait for the bank to send the money back to them before they could send us a check, and that it could take up to 90 days before we got anything.
